OPTI in Latin America

Collaboration with UNIDO

In the year 2000 the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) started its ambitious Technology Foresight Initiative for Latin America and the Caribbean programme, throughout which OPTI has been intensely collaborating.

• Years 2000 - 2001: Advisory missions for the governments of the Republic of Argentina, Uruguay, Brazil, Venezuela and Peru, and seminars for raising awareness in these countries.
• Years 2004 - 2005: Technical management of the Foresight Study on the Productive Chain of the Fishery Industry in the Region of the South American Pacific Coast project, with the participation of the countries from this region: Peru, Ecuador, Colombia and Chile.
• Years 2006 - 2007: Technical management of the Foresight Study on the Future of Andean Products project, with the participation of Ecuador, Peru and Bolivia.

Collaboration with FIEP

In 2003 OPTI established an agreement for cooperation with the Federation of Industries of the State of Paraná (FIEP) in Brazil, which since then has led to the development of collaborative projects aimed at defining technological and industrial development policies in the aforementioned Brazilian state.

Participation in seminars, congresses and various activities

OPTI holds a reputation in Latin America as a centre of excellence in the field of foresight, and as a result of this actively participates in a wide range of related technical and cultural events.
